Copenhagen’s Tivoli Gardens opened its doors in 1843 and is now the world’s second oldest amusement park still in operation. It also takes the title for being Scandinavia’s most visited theme park. The park’s most famous ride is Rutschebanen, which is an old fashioned wooden roller coaster, but there is more to do at Tivoli Gardens than just rides. Tivoli is home to the performing arts, including a concert hall and a pantomime theater. Performances can be enjoyed year round. In the wintertime, the gardens are the setting of Copenhagen’s Christmas Market.
